Welcome Don Caughey’s new Cavalry Blog

A big welcome to Don Caughey’s new blog, called Crossed Sabers.  Don is a teacher who has a special passion for Civil War Cavalry – gee, kinda puts him pretty high in my book!  I look for great things on his site.

His second post is a very nice review of my and Eric Wittenberg’s book.  Thanks, Don, for such a great review and for all your support.  With your permission, I’d like to include some quotes from it for our book’s website.  And his first one is a very interesting one regarding cavalry veterinary surgeons – a topic, incidentally, that I’ve long planned to learn more about.

Welcome, Don!

  1. JD,
Thank you for the welcome and the link. Although new to blogging, hopefully I’ll be able to contribute something of interest to the field.
You may of course quote whatever you wish from my review, I’m glad to be of service.

    Don

  2. You’re welcome, Don, and thanks to you as well. I’ll put some excerpts from your review on our site, with a link to your blog.

    Best,
    J.D.

  3. JD,
If you’ll shoot me your email address, the short history of the 2nd US Cavalry for the Buford’s Boys site is finally finished. It’s formatted off of the history for the 6th US Cavalry, so it should be what you were looking for.
